Source-Lifeguards in El Monte, Calif., were fired for making “Lifeguard Style,” a parody of the Korean-pop viral hit, “Gangnam Style.” Though the lifeguards told station KCAL9 that the video was meant to be fun and bring attention to the El Monte Acquatic Center, officials didn’t buy it. Robert Alaniz, a spokesman for the city of El Monte, released a statement saying, ”There was a clear unauthorized use of city resources and property, including the use of city-issued uniforms during the making of this unauthorized video. The city maintains that it holds all employees to a higher standard.”

As much as I want to hate on these lifeguards (because I don’t like life guards), I can’t. These bros are sporting the hottest moves in the game right now. Gangnam Style is straight fire. Were these lifeguards acting a bit silly at their place of work? Yes. But the only reason that they were fired was because their boss had never seen the original YouTube video. And if you haven’t seen it yet, please go play in traffic. Gangnam Style is the best thing to happen to YouTube, the Internet, global warming, and the entire universe!

Saw the vid, so stupid for firing them for having a little fun.
Mr.Alaniz, your high standards are idiotic. Were they allowing people to drown or not doing their job in any other manner? I think you should rethink your standards, just think what could happen if enough of the public stand against this, could be lost money for the city. That would be great wouldn’t it.
